Cody Ford became a force to be reckoned with for the Bengals this year

Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Cody Ford emerged as a jack-of-all-trades this season, proving his versatility and becoming a crucial cog in the team’s offensive machine. Ford’s remarkable adaptability saw him start at an unprecedented four different positions throughout the season, a feat rarely seen in the league.

His impressive performance even caught the eye of Bengals legend Dave Lapham. Lapham, in an interview with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, emphasized the significant technical differences between playing tackle and guard, particularly in pass protection. He highlighted the mental toughness required to master these variations and the importance of understanding assignments regardless of position. “You have to have your nose in the playbook,” Lapham stressed, “You know exactly what you’re supposed to do no matter where you are.”

Ford’s versatility was on full display throughout the season. He filled in at left tackle when Orlando Brown Jr. was injured, stepped up at guard after a benching, played as an extra tight end, and even started at right tackle when rookie Amarius Mims was sidelined.
