LSU Spring Game Scheduled for 2025

While some major college football programs like Nebraska, Texas, and USC are canceling or altering their 2025 spring games due to concerns about tampering and the transfer portal, LSU is taking a different approach. The Tigers are moving forward with their annual spring game, the 2025 National L Club Spring Game, scheduled for April 12th in Tiger Stadium. ¹ This scrimmage marks the culmination of their 15 spring practices.  

The increasing prevalence of the transfer portal has led to significant roster turnover across college football, making spring practice a crucial period. Last year, LSU strategically limited contact for certain positions, like running back, due to depth concerns. However, after a successful transfer portal season and the addition of highly-touted freshmen, LSU’s roster appears stronger, potentially allowing for a more traditional spring practice under Coach Brian Kelly.

Although Baton Rouge may be preoccupied with other LSU sports in early April, the spring game remains a valuable opportunity for fans to get a glimpse of the team. With Garrett Nussmeier returning at quarterback, attention will likely be focused on key position battles, particularly on the offensive line, where the competition to protect Nussmeier will be fierce. The spring practices and culminating spring game could offer valuable insights into the team’s strengths and weaknesses heading into the 2025 season.
