After an impressive eight-year career with the Los Angeles Rams, marked by numerous accolades including a Super Bowl MVP award, Kupp found himself unexpectedly released. Despite initially believing he’d finish his career with the Rams, he’s embracing this new chapter with excitement.

“It’s a really cool thing,” Kupp said, reflecting on his return to Washington. “Obviously growing up in Yakima, watching the Seattle Seahawks growing up, I’ve talked a lot about the memories and experiences. That’s kind of what football is. It’s remembering all those big moments.”

Kupp and his wife, Anna, who also has ties to the state, are enthusiastic about making Seattle their home. While the transition has been challenging, they are looking forward to being part of the community.

“We’re very excited about what the future holds here in Seattle,” Kupp said.

A key factor in Kupp’s decision to join the Seahawks was the vision presented by Coach Mike Macdonald and General Manager John Schneider. Their focus on building a team with “good people that are about ball” resonated with Kupp, who believes that championship teams are built on strong character and unity.

Conversations with former and current teammates, like Ernest Jones and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, further solidified his decision. They spoke highly of the coaching staff, the team’s culture, and the overall positive environment.

While facing his former team, the Rams, twice a year will be a unique experience, Kupp emphasizes his respect for the organization and its players. Ultimately, his decision was driven by the opportunity to join a team with a strong foundation and a promising future.

“It all went back to the people,” Kupp said. “He just loved the coaching staff. He loved the way the guys were treated, the way the organization was run, and he said he’s just having the time of his life playing football.”
