Danielle Hunter Secures Major Extension with Texans
The Houston Texans have extended defensive end Danielle Hunter’s contract through the 2026 season. The new one-year deal is valued at $35.6 million, making Hunter the NFL’s second-highest paid defensive end, behind Myles Garrett. This extension also includes a raise for the upcoming season, increasing Hunter’s guaranteed salary beyond the previously slated $19 million for 2025.

Hunter, a five-time Pro Bowler, recorded 12 sacks last season, tying for fifth-most in the league and contributing to Houston’s fourth-ranked sack total. His partnership with Will Anderson Jr. forms a formidable pass-rushing duo, now both secured through 2026.
Joining the Texans last offseason after eight years with the Minnesota Vikings, Hunter signed a two-year, $49 million contract. His career tally of 99.5 sacks ranks fifth among active NFL players, with 39 of those coming since 2022, placing him fourth in the league during that span.

This extension highlights a busy offseason for the Texans. They recently extended cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., traded for wide receiver Christian Kirk and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and made significant offensive line moves, including trading Laremy Tunsil and signing Cam Robinson.
