Vrabel’s Secret Weapon? Patriots About to Land Huge Super Bowl Winner

New Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s team-building philosophy could pave the way for a significant free-agent acquisition in 2025: two-time Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs left guard Trey Smith. According to Taylor Kyles of Patriots on CLNS, Smith joining the Patriots feels “inevitable” given Vrabel’s arrival.
Kyles suggests that Vrabel’s focus on protecting the interior of the offensive line will be a key factor in how the Patriots address the left guard position. While current players Cole Strange and Layden Robinson have shown promise, neither has started a full season, and both still have considerable room for development.
Beyond Smith, Kyles also identifies Baltimore Ravens starter Patrick Mekari as another likely target for the Patriots in free agency.
