Will Henry, Andrews Stay in Baltimore? Ravens Face Tough Decisions

Will Henry Andrews Stay in Baltimore

Ravens Look to 2025 After Divisional Round Exit: Henry Extension Possible, Veteran Futures Assessed

Following their Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens are already focusing on the future. Head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Eric DeCosta addressed the media, outlining the team’s offseason priorities.

Core Strength and Contract Adjustments:

The Ravens’ foundation remains strong, with key players like Lamar Jackson under contract. The team possesses salary-cap flexibility to retain important free agents like Ronnie Stanley and Patrick Mekari. DeCosta also revealed plans to explore long-term extensions for rising stars Tyler Linderbaum and Kyle Hamilton, both now eligible for new deals. Adjusting Jackson’s contract is also a possibility to create more cap space.

Henry’s Impact and Potential Extension:

Running back Derrick Henry, who made a significant impact in his first season with the Ravens, is entering the final year of his contract. DeCosta expressed strong interest in a potential extension. “I think he proved he has a lot left in the tank,” DeCosta said, praising Henry’s attitude, work ethic, and performance. “We can’t wait to see what he brings next year.” Henry’s contributions were evident, including 87 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Divisional Round.

Addressing Injuries and Veteran Status:

The Ravens are optimistic about Zay Flowers’ return after injury kept him out of the playoffs. DeCosta emphasized Flowers’ importance to the team’s future.

The future of several veteran players is under evaluation. While Mark Andrews had a difficult game against the Bills, including a crucial fumble, Harbaugh strongly defended him, calling him “a huge part of our future.” Despite Andrews’ significant $16.9 million cap hit in 2025, DeCosta highlighted the team’s strong tight end depth, calling it “the best tight-end room in the league.”

Kicker Justin Tucker, despite a career-high eight missed field goals and two missed extra points, received a vote of confidence from DeCosta. Tucker finished the season strong, and DeCosta expects him to “be a great kicker for us next year and beyond.”

Harbaugh’s Future and the Bigger Picture:

John Harbaugh, whose contract expires after the 2025 season, remains focused on the team’s mission. “I’m happy,” Harbaugh stated. “However it goes, I trust God. We’re on a mission together, and I’m not worried about those things.”

Looking Ahead to 2025:

Despite the disappointing end to the 2024 season, the Ravens are optimistic about the future. With a solid core, potential contract extensions, and confidence in their players, they are already building towards a more successful 2025 campaign.
